You know,in my mind one of the attributes a slave has to have is selflessness. 

A slave in my household has be be able to to put his personal wants aside for not only his Master, but the greater good of the household.  This is a hard thing for kids today to learn because we not only live in a "me" society but they are conditioned very early to be self sufficient and take care of themselves.

Many boys think that somehow they are less of a man if they are relying on someone else to provide for them, this is what has been drilled into them for many years.

However, that mind set, on its face, is the opposite of what living a slave household is all about.  My households emphasize the collective, one man helping another for his own satisfaction and ultimately to gain the satisfaction and approval of Master.
